Weeds and Treament

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) emphasizes the importance of managing invasive plant species in our lakes to protect both wildlife and the overall health of the lake ecosystem. Invasive plants can quickly spread, disrupting natural habitats, outcompeting native species, and negatively impacting water quality. By treating these invasive species, we not only help preserve the lake’s biodiversity but also ensure it remains a safe, enjoyable resource for recreational use, such as swimming, boating, and fishing.

The treatment methods we use are safe for both wildlife and humans, ensuring that the lake’s ecosystem is preserved while minimizing any potential harm. These treatments are carefully applied to target invasive plants without disrupting the natural balance of the lake.

To help cover the costs of this essential work, we are exploring options for an assessment. We are currently gathering quotes for the treatment, and our goal is to keep the cost under $100 per year for each parcel owner with lake rights. This will allow us to continue protecting our lake and maintaining its health for years to come.
